Carlow. Died.- Frederick S. Naughton, at Old Derig House, Carlow, June 13, aged 34.

Compensation.- Mr. Ryan, Carlow, has given ?25 compensation to Mrs. Finn, whose husband was accidentally killed in Ryan’s yard.

Fatal Accident.- Frederick Haughton of Carlow, nephew of Doctor Haughton, Trinity College, Dublin, was killed recently by the upsetting of his trap.

Mrs. Murphy Refuses to Give Bail.- Mrs. Murphy and her infant child were recently conveyed from Wexford Jail to the residence of Colonel Deals, and again remanded, she refusing to give bail. A strong deputation from Rathdangan branch were present in Hacketstown to express their sympathy with her.

Carlow. Obstructing a Bailiff.- A man named Byrne, Tinryland, was recently charged with obstructing Sheriff’s bailiff ‘Hero’ Moore when making a seizure of cattle.

The Wool Tolls in Carlow.- The people of Carlow have refused to pay tolls the weighing of wool, and the Town Commissioners are to prosecute.

Carlow Town Commissioners.- John Hammond has been re-elected Chairman of this Board for ensuing year. This is his eleventh year of office.

Carlow Gaelic News.- A meeting of the County Committee was recently held in the Assembly Rooms, Carlow. M.P. Maher, Rathvilly, presided. Also present John Reid, Treas.; Michael Nolan, Edward O’Toole, D.J. McGrath, Thomas O’Gorman, and P.J. Griffin, Sec. The members of the Council absent were Messrs. McDonald, Kavenagh, Rooney, and Doyle. The final -e was arranged to be played between Carlow and Crecrin at Grange. John Dawson, Grange, to be referee.

Carlow. Carlow Fair.- Horned stock was below average. Buyers were numerous. Sheep fair was largely supplied and demand good.

Mrs. Murphy was tried at Hacketstown on June 20 for taking forcible possession of premises from which she had been evicted. She refused to give bail. The magistrate, Mr. Denis, said that she should be sent to Waterford Jail and tried at Carlow on July 12.

Melbourne. Deaths. Mrs. Mary Murphy, mother of John Murphy, Corop, on 10th April, aged 82, native of County Carlow, Ireland.
