ARKLOW PARISH

	'The burial-grounds of the parish afford no specimens of 
sepulchral Monuments more striking than that of a simple 
tombstone, except in the Instance of the HOWARD family.  The 
late Lord Wicklow, father of the Present earl (1816) erected 
a mausoleum in the form of a pyramid, visible From the 
distant parts of the country; the interior is arranged with 
recesses for the dead.  Within the new church: of Arklow, a 
handsome monument, Remarkable for its chaste and elegant 
design, was lately dedicated by JOHN

*Since the above was written, we are informed that this book 
has been well re-paired and re-bound by the Deputy Keeper of 
the Public Records, Dublin, and without any expense to the 
parish.  We much wish that other parishes that have their 
Registers in bad condition would have them done in like 
manner.

KNOX GROGAN, Esq., of Johnstown-castle, County of Wexford, 
to the mmory of his brother, THOMAS KNOX, Esq., who fell in 
the year 1798, at the battle of Arklow, whilst gallantly 
leading on his corps of yeomanry.' [Mason.]
