HISTORY OF ROSEGARLAND, 1620.

In this year we find a recognizance, dated July 11th, of
JAMES SYNNOT, of Roscarlan, in £50 to THOS. CULLEN of
Cullenstown. The condition is that JAMES, and WALTER his son
and heir, bind themselves in the above sum to deliver to
THOMAS CULLEN all deeds, etc., relating to the lands of
Kilbrennye (Kilbraney, now called Abbey Braney) and
Clonfadd, and make a "sure, sufficient, and indefeasible
estate in fee simple" of the above lands to four feoffees
(spelling as per book) in trust to the use of ALSON CULLEN,
daughter of the said THOMAS, with reversion to the use of
the heirs of PIERS SYNNOT deceased (one of the sons of the
said JAMES) and the said ALSON CULLEN, his widow. The
"Estate" is to be for the term of 81 years.
