LOFTUS, NICHOLAS - COMMUNION CUP 1639

Description of Cup (Communion)
Inscription:
"Ex dono NICHOLAI LOFTUS de Kilcloggan
Armigeri Anno. Salutis 1639 Calix parochialis
Ecclesiae Beatae Marieae Virginis de Templetowne
in Comitatu Wexfordiae."

'The arms and crest here given are those of Nicholas LOFTUS, 
of Fethard, Esq., second son of Sir Dudley LOFTUS, son and 
heir of Archbishop LOFTUS, born 1592, sheriff of Wexford, 
1620; married 28th May, 1623, Margaret, daughter and heir of 
Thomas CHETHAM, Esq, of Nuthurst, in Lancashire, and 
Hacketstown, County Dublin, died 1666, buried on N. side of 
chancel of Fethard Church [where Ely vault now is].
