In the Name of God Amen I John Kennedy on Board the East 
India Ship Alfred whereof is Master under God James 
Farquarson now at Sea on a Voyage from China to London being 
of sound and disposing Mind and Memory and Considering the 
Perils and Dangers of the Seas and other uncertainties of 
this Transitory life Do for avoiding Controversies after my 
decease make publish and declare this my last Will and 
Testament in manner following (that is to say) first I 
recommend my Soul to God that gave it and my Body I commit 
to the Earth or Sea as it shall please God to order And as 
for and concerning all my Worldly Estate I give bequeath & 
dispose thereof as followeth (that is to say) To my lawful 
Brother James Kennedy of the United Kingdom of Ireland of 
the Town of Mothe Granogue in the Parish of Clomonagh in the 
County of Westmeath all such Wages Sum and Sums of Money as 
shall be any ways owing or belonging unto me at the time of 
my decease I do give devise and bequeath the same unto my 
aforesaid lawful Brother after discharging the legal Debts I 
have heretofore contracted And I do hereby nominate and 
appoint my aforesaid lawful Brother James Kennedy to be the 
sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament hereby 
revoking all former and other Wills and Testaments and Deeds 
of Gift by me at any time heretofore made And I do ordain 
and ratify these Presents to stand and be for and as my only 
Will and Testament In Witness whereof to this my said Will I 
have set my hand and Seal At sea the first of June in the 
year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and two and in 
the forty second Year of the Reign of His Majesty Lord 
George the third over Great Britain etc. John Kennedy X his 
Mark Signed Sealed and declared where no Stamp can be had or 
used in the presence of William Flicket _ Thomas Taylor
23 December 1803 Administration with Will annexed to Hugh 
Kelly lawful Attorney of James Kennedy now residing at 
Gurteon in the County of Westmeath
