MEMORIALS FOR CASTLELOST CHURCHYARD & MULLINGAR BURIAL GROUND

CASTLELOST CHURCHYARD
[From Lord Walter FitzGerald]
'This churchyard is situated some distand in the fields, away
from the public road, but is very visible owing to the flat, hedgeless
nature of the county.
'A large amount of the church ruins are standing, though
the walls are very frail in parts, and show recent falls in
them.

Gloria in Excelsis Deo. Lord | have mercy on the Soul | of
Redmond MARTIN who | depd this life April 2nd | 1835. Aged
60 years|

This Stone Was erectd by Michael KEEGAN of Carrick in memory
of his children. Feb 1.. 1755

A headstone:

I.H.S.
This Stone was Erected | by John KEEGAN in memory |
of his Mother Bridget Keegan | alias ROCK, who died |
the 6th of March 1750 Aged | 42 years. Also his Father |
Thos Keegan who died the | 19th of Debr 1782 Aged
82 years.


MULLINGAR CHURCH AND BURIAL GROUND
ST. Mary's Protestant Church

Under this Monument in a vault is deposited the Body of Hugh
BOWEN, lineal heir of the House of __pton in Pembrokeshire,
South Wales, who for the space of 44 years held the post of
Collector of Trim, during which time he behaved as a pious
and good Christian, faithful Subject, and affectionate
Husband, tender Father and sincere Friend, and kind Master,
beloved and lemented by all acquaintances. Departed 22nd May
1724, Aged 67. By his side is deposited the Body of Anne his
wife, Daughter of Wilm JONES of Rathconrath, Esqr, whose
truly pious and good life, with her constant Care and Love
of her Children, before and after her Husband's decease made
her the object of their dutiful regard, admired and beloved
by all that knew her. Departed 23rd Decr 1738, Aged 73.
Grateful to the memory of such excellent Parents, their
Children have erected this Monument.

Here lyes the Body of Iohn
COOKE of Cookesborough
Esqr who died the (?) of Octobr
1733 in the 77th year of his
Age.
This Monument was Erected
by the direction of Elizabeth
his wife.

On another:
PRAY FOR THE SOULES OF GARALD DALTON AND ELLIS DALTON - 1641.

On the third:
PRAY FOR THE SOULES OF THADY KANNY AND HIS WIFE BRIDGET 17

At the east end of the churyard  a small headstone:

PRAY FOR THE SOUL OF LUKE PETID WHO
DIED AUGUST y? 1, 1743
AGE 26. BY MARY PETID.

On a flat slab:

heney & ye rnd thomas hyland who are here
interrd 1740

On a small slab:
This Monument Erected By Iohn & Christr LESTRANGE of
Keoltown Esqrs, to the Memory of their Deceased Parents who
lye intered within, Also to the Memory of two sons of the
above Iohn cut away in the bloom of Life, & for the use of
the KEOLTOWN FAMILY as they may be called to an happy
Eternity. Amen

On a mural tablet in the north wall of the church: Nearly
under this stone | lies interred the Body of | Margaret wife
of Lieut. | MACALPINE who departd | this life 7th March 1808
| Aged 33 years.
