STRADBALLY PARISH - MONASTERY RUINS - POWER FAMILY

The following inscriptions have been kindly sent us by Mr.
Richard O'FLYNN when recently on a visit to this country
from Worcester, Mass, United States of America and we here
beg to thank him for the same. They are taken from the
burial-ground and connected with the ruined monastary of
Stradbally:-

"To the glory of God and in memory of Pierse BARRON who died
10 Dec 1864 aged 71 and of Catherine Elizabeth his wife who
died 27 Decr. 1865 aged 70. This cross is erected by their
children. We sorrow not as these without hope for if we
believe that Jesus died and rose again even so them also
which sleep in Jesus will God bring [with] him.
I am the resurrection and the life he that believeth in Me
though he were dead yet shall he live.
------
Mr. O'FLYNN adds:-

'I had some difficulty getting over a high spiked iron
railing and at first decided to pass it over but finally
took courage, made the attempt. came off safe and here is
the epitaph' :-
