DUNGARVAN, ST. MARY'S CHURCHYARD.
  [From Lord Walter Fitzgerald.]

A Protestant church stands in this place, and is surrounded
by a large burial- ground. Many flat slabs and altar-tombs
have their inscriptions illegible, as the nature of the
local stone is to weather-wear badly. The west gable is all
that is left standing of the ancient building; and from the
five very peculiar circular apertures (two above and three
below) in it, it is known as "The Holed Gable.: The round
holes on the outside are of cut stone; internally they have
a wide circular splay. This fable stands to the west of the
church.

  * Farlough, Parish of Tullyniskan.
This date is possibly 1679, but that given above appears to
so read in a rather blurred rubbing.

'As far as I noticed there are no tombs earlier than the
eighteenth century; the following are specimens of a few of
the inscriptins.
  ' At the south-east side" :-
