Hunt __________________________________ PARISH OF MOY— GORESTOWN. [From C. J. Hobson, New York City.] 'Gorestown is a small burying-ground half a mile south-west of the little town of Moy. Originally there was a Roman Catholic Chapel here, winch was removed to Moy in 1833, where a Latin inscription, given below, records the date ' : — "Deo I Optimo Maximo | Sub Invocatione | Sainct Joannes | Baptiste Haec | Ecclesia Condita | est Anno Domini | MDCCCXXXIII | Curante Rev. Do | JOANNE MONTAGUE | Parocho." 'After the removal of the church, and opening of a new burial- ground attached thereto, Gorestown fell into disuse, and is only used at present as a place of interment for suicides and stillborn children. The burying-ground contains eight headstones, seven of which are inscribed. The inscriptions are as follows':— IHS "Here Lyeth the Body | or MRY GRIMES who | Departed this life | June 23 1804 | Aged 66 years." TYRONE. 472 IHS "Here lieth the | Body of MARY | MALLEN Who de | Parted This Life | AUGUST 17 1799 | AGED 17 YEARS." ____ IHS "Here lieth the Body of MARY McCOY | who Departed this | Life the 22nd of September | 1806 Aged 57 years." ____ IHS "Here lieth the Body of MURTAGH CAVANAGH who departed this life on the 1st day of Dec.
