In the Name of God Amen I Patrick Kennedy of and belonging 
to his Majesty's Ship the Jersey being Weak of Body but of 
Sound Disposing Mind and Memory considering the Dangers of 
the Seas and other the uncertaintys of this transitory life 
Do for Avoiding Controversys after my Decease make Publish 
and Declare this my last Will and Testament in manner 
following that is to say First I Recommend my Soul to God 
that Gave it and my Body I Commit to the Earth or Sea as it 
shall please God to Order it And as for and concerning all 
my Worldly Estate I Give Bequeath and Dispose thereof in 
manner following that is to say I Principally and First of 
all Desire that all my Just Debts be paid Item I Give and 
bequeath to my Beloved Wife Ann Kennedy of the Parish of 
Saint Nickolls in the Town of Carrickasure in the Kingdom of 
Ireland in the County of Tippirearse one Third and my Eldest 
Daughter Mary Kennedy one third and to my Daughter Jaine one 
third of all my Sea Pay Prize Money Short allowance money 
which is due owing or belonging unto me after my Decease And 
in Case of either my Wife or Daughters defaults I bequeath 
She or their Shares to be Equally Divided Between the other 
too that's living And in Case the Death of Two Should happen 
before the Receiving of equal'd Effects then I Bequeath the 
whole to the third person and so next in Kindred if that my 
said Wife and Children are deceased as also all other Sum or 
Sums of money Goods Chattels or Estates Land and Tenement 
whatsoever as Shall in any ways be due owing or belonging 
unto me at the time of my decease I Do hereby Nominate and 
Appoint John Burton of the aforesaid Ship (and purser) 
Steward their lawful Executor Give and Granting unto the 
said John Burton a full power to Administer in their behalf 
after my Decease And I hereby Ratify this my last Will and 
Testament to Stand in full for hereby Revoking all other the 
former Wills of Testaments and Deeds of Gift by me at any 
time heretofore made And I do Order and Ratify these 
presents to Stand and be as my only last Will and Testament 
In Witness to this my last Will I have set my hand and Seal 
the Twenty Seventh day of September In the year of our Lord 
One thousand Seven hundred and forty Six and in the 
Twentieth Year of the Reign of our Sovereign George the 
Second by the Grace of God King of Great Britain Patt: 
Kennedy Sealed Signed and Delivered in the Presence of us at 
Gibralter Navy Hospital where no Stamped Paper is to be had
