MANTON, THOMAS JANUARY 29, 1909

St. Louis Post - Dispatch Missouri
The funeral of Thomas Manton, who died at his home, 2100
O'Fallon Street, will take place Monday morning at St.
Bridget's Church, and internment will be in Calvary
Cemetery. Mr. Manton was in business at Twenty-first and
O'Fallon Streets without interruption since 1875 when he
came to this country. He was one of the best known citizens
of the old Kerry Patch district, and was the oldest
parishioner of St. Bridget's.

He was born in Newrard, County Tipperary, Ireland,
Nov.1,1840, and was 70 years old when he died Friday from a
complication of diseases due to old age. He was married in
1875 to Miss Mary Ryan, who survives him, with three sons
and two daughters: Miss Kate Manton, Miss Mamie Manton, John
J. Manton, former clerk of the Court of Criminal Correction;
Edward A. Manton, who was in business with his father, and
Thomas F. Manton.

Additional Comments:
There was a picture of Thomas Manton above the obituary. I
have been doing a one name study of the Manton surname from
Ireland and so collected this record. My paternal
great-great grandmother was Catherine Manton/Mantin who
married William O'Meara in Moycarkey Parish in 1838.
