In the matter of
ROBERT JONES, esquire, Owner and Petitioner.

FORTLAND ESTATE, comprises of the lands of FORTLAND,
KILMAKIRKAN, SHRAHEENS, ONEYKEEVANE, BALLINAHOWNA and other
lands, situate in the Barony of Tyreragh, Co Sligo, held in
Fee.

It included the Mansion House and Demesne Lands of FORTLAND.
There is some fine old timber in the demesne. The house and
offices are in good repair and has an excellent fruit and
vegetable garden attached. The demesne and pleasure grounds
are tastefully planted and the Easkey River runs through
them. There is a Salmon Fishery within a short distance of
the Mansion. The shores of Shraheens and Bunnowna afford
ample supplies of Sea-weed for manure. SHRAHEENS, BUNOWNA,
ADERAVOHER and KADEWS lie in the immediate locality of
Easkey. The land is of excellent quality. There are 3 Fairs
annually at ROSSLEE (in ADERAVOHER), the tolls averaging £15
per annum. The FORTLAND ESTATE is well supplied with Game.
The Easkey river runs for about 7 miles through it, affords
several sites for the working of water-power of Mills and
the Salmon and Trout fishing upon it is excellent. VAUGHAN
JONES and his sister ALICIA JONES, whose annunities are
payable out of this Lot 34 and Lot 37 are aged respectively
about 60 and 58.
