MAHON, DENIS FEBRUARY 19, 1846

In the Name of God Amen I Denis Mahon of Strokestown House 
in the County of Roscommon Esquire being of sound and 
disposing mind do make this my last Will and testament 
bereby revoking all former wills by me at any time 
heretofore made I desire that my remains may be placed in 
the family Vault at Strokestown Whereas I have by Deed of 
Settlement charged several denominations of my estates in 
the County of Roscommon with the yearly sum of one thousand 
two hundred pounds as a jointure for my dearly beloved wife 
Henrietta Mahon for and during the term of her natural life 
Now I do hereby will devise and bequeath all my estates and 
lands unto Denis Henry Kelly of Castlekelly Esquire and 
Lieutenant Colonel Henry Bathurst of the Scotch Fuzileer 
Guards and Gloster Place London and the survivor of them his 
heirs and assigns in the first place to permit and suffer my 
said wife to have and receive the said yearly sum of one 
thousand two hundred pounds in manner and as set out in said 
Deed of Settlement for and during the term of her natural 
life for her sole use and benefit and Subject thereto to the 
use of my dear daughter Grace Mahon and her assigns until 
her marriage and in case she shall marry with the consent of 
her mother the said Henrietta Mahon to be had in Writing 
under her hand and seal then from and after her marriage in 
manner aforesaid to the use of the said Grace Mahon for and 
during the term of her natural life remainder to the said 
Trustees to preserve contingent remainders a remainder to 
her first and other son in tale male remainder in case of no 
issue male to her daughter or daughters as tenants in common 
and not as joint tenants and to their respective issue male 
and female failures of such issue male and female And in 
case of said Grace marrying without such consent first had 
and obtained I charge the said estates with the sum of 
twenty thousand pounds as a provision for her and subject 
thereto devise the same to the use and behoof of my brother 
John Mahon for and during the term of his natural life 
remainder to said Trustees to preserve the contingent 
remainder remainder to Thomas Mahon his eldest son for his 
natural life remainder to his first and other son in tail 
male failure of such issue remainder to his second son John 
Mahon for and during the term of his natural life remainder 
to the first and other son for and during the term of his 
natural life in tail male failure of such issue to Denis 
Mahon third son of John Mahon for and during the term of his 
natural life remainder to the first and other son for and 
during the term of his natural life in tail male failure of 
such issue to Leonora Mahon the daughter of said John Mahon 
for her life remainder to her first and other son in tail 
male failure of such issue remainder to my own right heirs 
for ever I will devise and bequeath all my plate to my wife 
for and during her life and after her cease to my said 
daughter and her first and other son so as to remain as 
heirlooms in my name and family and all other personal 
property of what nature or kind soever save land I will 
devise and bequeath to my said wife subject however to my 
just debts and I hereby nominate and appoint her my sole 
Executrix and residuary legatee In case of my daughter Grace 
marrying with the consent of her mother I do hereby empower 
them to enter into Settlements for the purpose of limiting 
said estates according to the usual course of family 
settlements and providing jointures with provisions for 
younger children and in case of death of my wife before the 
said Grace shall marry I empower her with the consent of the 
said Denis Henry Kelly and Lieutenant Colonel Henry Bathurst 
to enter into the like Settlements and I empower my said 
daughter Grace and such other person as may be in possession 
under the aforesaid devise to make lease or leases of any 
part of said lands for any term not exceeding three lives or 
thirty one years in possession or not in reversion And I 
also empower the said John Mahon and his said sons when in 
possession to charge said lands with a jointure of one 
thousand pounds for any wife they may have or marry and with 
a sum not exceeding ten thousand pounds as provision for 
their younger children In Witness whereof I have hereunto 
subscribed my name and affixed my seal this nineteenth day 
of February one thousand eight hundred and forty six Denis 
Mahon
