CEMETERY: JULIANSTOWN CHURCHYARD MEMORIALS

' This churchyard is situated close to the River Nanny,
and three miles to the south of Drogheda.  It is a small
burial-ground in which stands a modern Protestant church.
'Lying in front of the vestry-door is a large slab, of which
the lower portion is missing; the inscription reads';

		HERE LYETH Ye BODY OF
		MARGARET GRYFFYTH OF
		LISDOENAN WHO DEPARTED
		THIS LIFE MARCH 19TH 1720
		AGED 100 YEARS

		Here under lieth the Body
		of Mr. William Cocks of the
		Ninch in the County of Meath
		Gentleman son-in-law to the
		Above named Margaret Gryffyth
		Who departed this Life the 25th
		…………………..in the year of
		……………………………in the
		………………………………….
'The remainder of the inscription is broken off and
lost; this slab is not in its original position as it lies
north and south.

'With the inscription facing the west, there is a
headstone near the above slab, on which is inscribed';- This
Burial Place belongeth to Ma | thew Plunkett and his
Posterity. | Here lieth the Body of the Revd | Doctor
Plunkett who departed this | life April the 25th 1775 Aged
37 years. | Also here lieth the Body of his mother |
Margaret Plunkett alias Fullom who de | parted this Life
July the 16th 1779 aged | 60 years.  Also here lieth the
Body of | her son Joseph Plunkett who departed | this Life
March the 1st 1780 aged 43 years.

'The two remaining inscriptions given below are from the
older headstones on the south side of the burial-ground.'

This Stone & Burial Place was Erected by Pat Ma |gauisk of
Rogerstown & | also his Posterity.  Here lieth | the Body of
his Father Deni(?) Magavisk who died April y* | 2nd 1722
aged 49 also y* Body | of his Mother Mary Nugent | who died
Octobr y* 23rd 1737 | Aged 63.  And y* Body of his | Wife
Mary Ellis who died | Janury y* 13 1770 aged 59 yers

This Stone was Erected by John Mclaughlin in memory of his
Mother Mary Rushell who died July y* 26th 1740 Aged 47 years
