CLOONBANAUM or BALLINA, is divided into three parts, North, 
Middle and South. Situate in the Electoral Division of 
Shrule, Union of Ballinrobe, Parish of Shrule, Barony of 
Kilmaine and County of Mayo.They are distant about 9 miles 
from the Town of Tuam; the Black River formerly bounded this 
Townland on the North side. This river has been deepened and 
improved by the Board of Works, and the low lands adjoining 
it are now freed from the frequent inundations  which they 
were before subject to. The soil in general on this Townland 
is light arable kind clay; the low lands adjoining the river 
are a rich alluvial deposit. A considerable portion of this 
Townland would be improved by being thorough drained. Quit 
Rent: £1-7s-10.25d.
