Cemetery: Aughavale near Clew Bay, Westport *********************************************** Ireland Genealogy Projects Archives Mayo Index Copyright ************************************************ File contributed by: Bernie McCafferty, July 2004 AUGHAVALE NEAR CLEW BAY, WESTPORT Aughavale Cemetery is located along the south shore of Clew Bay about a mile southwest of Westport heading towards Louisburgh on R335 near Belclare. Aughavale is the main cemetery for Westport and is unique in that it has both Catholic and Protestant burials in the same cemetery. The cemetery is boxed in by a stone wall along the main road, a stone wall on the left side (looking from the street), and another stone wall along a smaller road on the right which contains the main entrance. The newer section is located to the right of this main entrance. Most of these transcriptions are from the newer section. In loving memory of a dear husband and father PATRICK J.
