MEMORIAL INSCRIPTIONS

Location: BALLINAMORE CHURCHYARD, Co LONGFORD

Num: 1 Source: A.P.M.D.I. (1892)

[A mural slab built into one of the walls of the ruined chapel, bearing
the following inscription, "cut in a very rough manner"]

Here Lieth
the corps
of Sir RICHD.
BROWN Baro
net and his La
MARY PLUNKET
O sweet rest hav mercy on us

In the south wall of the church, a few feet from the east gable, is a
small tablet measuring 2ft. square. The letters are raised, and the
panel has a moulding worked on the edge of the stone. As the remains of
both castle and church will in course of time gradually disappear, and
it is to be feared this interesting tablet also, it seems desirable to
note their existence and condition while they are still to be seen.
