CEMETERIES: OUTRATH CHURCHYARD MEMORIALS

'This parish lies in the Barony of Shillelogher. Not a
stone upon a stone of the ancient church remains; and
the same, it is to be regretted, may be applied to most
of the parishes in this county. The most curious and
out-of-place object, in the memorial line here, is a large
granite quern. It is standing on edge, half buried, with
the central hole showing. The only inscription on the
part above ground are the figures "1804."It was most
probably erected to a miller. The oldest inscription here
is dated 1710' :---
