WILLS: NEWLAND OR NOWLAN, DENNIS JULY 7, 1798

In the Name of God Amen I Dennis Newland belonging
to His Majesty's Ship Ville de Paris No on the Ship's
Books 320 now Sick in the Naval Hospital at Lisbon
being of sound and disposing Mind Memory do make
this my last Will and Testament that is to say first I
recommend my Soul to God that gave it And my Body I
commit to the Earth or Sea as it shall please God to
order and as for and concerning All my worldly Estate I
give bequeath and dispose thereof as followeth first
Part Profit rent arising out of Land called the Elve Park
six Years of which is due last May likewise twenty five
pounds Sterling No 5 debenture on the road leading
from Kilcullen to Cartoa together with all such Wages
Prize Money Sum and Sums of Money Lands
Tenements Goods Chattels and Estate whatsoever as
shall be anyways due owing or belonging unto me at
the time of my decease I do give devise and bequeath
the same unto my friend Mr Thomas Doyle
Schoolmaster residing in Timolin in the County of
Kildare Ireland and do hereby Nominate and appoint
him Executor of this my last Will and Testament hereby
revoking all former and other Will Testaments and
Deeds of Gift by me at any time heretofore made and I
do ordain and ratify these presents to Stand and be for
and as my only last Will and Testament In Witness
whereof to this my said Will I have hereunto set my
Hand and Seal at the Naval Hospital at Lisbon the
seventh day of July in the Year of our Lord one
thousand seven hundred and Ninety Eight And in the
thirty Eighth Year of the Reign of his Majesty King
George the third over Great Britain etc Dennis Nowlan
Signed and Sealed in the Presence of us at Lisbon
where no Stamp Paper is to be had Jno Gray Surgeon
and Agent James Allott Clerk
I Give and bequeath to Roger Mackay of his Majesty's Ship
Victory all my Cloaths for his attention to me during my
Illness
