CEMETERY: DUNMURRY CHURCHYARD
  [From Lord Walter FitzGerald.]

'This is a small burial-ground, surrounded by a low ditch,
which lies near the public road, inside Mr. Medlicott's
demesne. With the exception of a couple of quite modern
white marble crosses, erected to the memory of members of
the Medlicott family, ther is only one inscribed tombstone
in the burial-ground. The inscription on this tombstone
reads:—

                  IHS
This Stone is Erected by Iohn
       Downey in memory of his
Father Hugh Downey, who departed this life
ye 14th of April `779. Aged 85 years.
And also in memory of his Brother Patrick
Downey who departed this life ye 10th of May 1780
       Aged 47 years.
