'A portion of the following inscription appeared in vol.
vi, p. 335, of our Journal; the slab it was copied from has
since been raised to make room for a modern headstone, and
so the inscription is now fully exposed to view; it is in
the unusual position of running along the length of the
slab':—

Here Lies the Body of Daniel McRobin who
Departed this Life Iany 1777 Aged 87 yrs
Also his wife Catherin Shaw Departed Decr
1764. Aged 63 yrs Also their son John McRobin Depart
ed Octobr 1768 Aged 35 yrs. Erected by their son James
McRobin in memory of them. Requiescat in pace.
Also the Body of Ann McRobin alis Shough who departed
this life March the 6th 1786. Aged 42 years.

On the modern headstone occurs the name "McRobin or
Robinson," showing that this family adopted the
English form of the name in preference to the Celtic
one—an example which has been unfortunately followed
by the members of this family since.
