MOLONEY, PATRICK  JANUARY 6, 1914

"Indian Fighter is Dead. Father of Detectives Moloney 
Succumbs at age 76", (Newspaper article found in Scrapbook 
No. 49 at Oregon Historical Society Library, Portland Or, 
page 89, dated Jan 7, 1914, may not be photocopied.: " 
Patrick Moloney, 76 years old, father of John and Patrick 
Moloney, detectives in the police bureau, died early 
yesterday at his home at 342 Sherman St, after an illness of 
4 years.  Mr Moloney was born in Galway, Ireland, and came 
to the United States in 1854.  In 1855 he was enrolled in 
the U.S. Infantry.  He fought through the Indian Wars in 
Oregon and in 1870 went to California where he married Anna 
Higgins. In 1872 he returned to Portland and engaged in the 
transfer business.  He had been retired for the last 7 
years.  A widow and 5 children survive. The latter are John 
and Patrick Moloney of Portland, Thomas E. lives at Spokane. 
 Mrs T.E. Hulme of Portland and Mrs Wm Casey of LaGrande, 
Oregon.  Funeral arrangements have not yet been completed."

Born April 15 1838 in Woodford, County Galway to Michael 
Moloney and Julia Murphy.
