ANDERSON

Nancy ANDERSON died 1860 aged 70 years. Joseph ANDERSON died 
1862 aged 92 years.

In Loving memory of John ANDERSON, Ardbarron, who died 20th 
April 1914 aged 84 years also his wife Mary Jane who died 
14th February 1881 aged 52 years and their daughter Mary Ann 
ROBINSON who died 14th April 1918 aged 52 years and their 
daughter Margaret who died 22nd December 1922 aged 64 years 
James who died 21st August 1881 aged 30 years buried in 
Mount Jerome cemetery, Dublin. Erected by Joseph HENDERSON.

In loving remberance of Revd. John ARMSTRONG for 45 years 
the faithful pastor of 2nd Castlederg Presbyterian Church 
who died 20th July 1879 in the 68th year of his age and 46th 
of his ministry.Erected by his representatives.He being ded 
yet speaketh. Contend ye earnestly for the faith once 
delivered to the saints. (LHS of above stone) also of his 
sons Samuel and Robert John who died in infancy and of his 
daughter Sara G.E. LAMB died October 16th 1885 aged 43 
years. (RHS of above) also of his wife Nancy HUEY died 
January 4th 1906 aged 94 years and their daughters Jane and 
Charlotte.

BESTALL

To the memory of Audley CALDWELL late of the Forttown who 
entered into life eternal on the 14th of October 1859 aged 
60 years  also of Frederick LAW youngest son of Margaret 
BESTALL who departed this life on 21st June 1860 aged 5 
years also of his mother Margaret BESTALL eldest daughter of 
Audley CALDWELL who exchanged mortality for life on the 19th 
of September 1861 aged 34 years also James Audley second son 
of the late Audley CALDWELL, Esqr of Forttown who died 28th 
September 1877 aged 47.

Erected in memory of James ANDERSON died 24th November 1884 
aged 68 years also his wife Rebecca died 16th December 1893 
aged 60 years also several of their children.

CALDWELL

To the memory of Audley CALDWELL late of the Forttown who

William CAMPBELL, Bridgetown, who departed this life 23rd 
December 1896 aged 78 years also Martha THOMPSON, wife of 
William CAMPBELL who departed this life 12th February 1905 
aged 80 years.

CREEVY

Erected in affectionate remembrance of William McASKIE 
(Creevy) died 19th March 1909 aged 78 years also his wife 
Matilda McASKIE died 9th August 1918 aged 91 years also Jane 
McASKIE died 23rd August 1890 aged 80 years.

DAVIDSON

Erected by W.J and M.J DAVIDSON, Laurelville, Castlederg in 
loving memory of their children Mary Isabella who died 4th 
January 1898 Arthur Victor 2nd January 1900 Robert 5th June 
1900 Captain Frederick William Royal Inniskilling Fusilers 
12th May 1928. Also three who died in infancy and were 
interred in Tullylish Churchyard, Co. Down.

DEERY

Erected in affectionate remembrance of Sarah Helena Maude, 
dearly beloved child of Dr. Thomas LEARY, Castlederg who 
died 16th April 1880 aged 6 years. (RHS of above) In loving 
memory of Dr. Thomas LEARY J.P., medical officer of 
Castlederg District for 57 years who fell asleep in Jesus 
1st December 1918 aged 80 years. (LHS of above) Also William 
DEERY late of Southport who died 15th May 1905 aged 79 
years.

DOVEY

Here lieth the body of Agnes DOVEY alias WILKIN who died the 
31 of Genevry 1699.Memenio Mori.(poem inscribed here also).

EDWARDS

Here sleep in the Lord Jesus the mortal remains of Nehemia 
H. EDWARDS late of Kilcroagh who departed this life April 
5th 1846 aged 85 years also of Elizabeth his wife who died 
November 24th 1859 aged 84 years also the remains of their 
son The Rev. Edward EDWARDS, B.A., J.P for 50 years 
Clergyman of this Parish who died 1st July 1881 aged 79 
years also of their eldest son John EDWARDS who died 31st 
March 1887 aged 89 years. (flat stone)

GAMBLE

In loving memory of James GAMBLE of Holm Villa, who died 3rd 
May 1913 aged 73 years also his wife Rebecca who died 6th 
September 1924 aged 76 years.

HAMILTON

In loving remembrance of William HAMILTON who died 24th June 
1849 aged 78 years also his wife Mary HAMILTON who died 25th 
December 1852 aged 79 years also their son Robert HAMILTON 
late of Ganvanhan who died 1st April 1877 aged 64 years also 
their son Charles HAMILTON  who departed this life 23rd 
October 1885 aged 80 years. Isabella HAMILTON who died 4th 
December 1901 aged 96 years.

Here lieth the body of Matthew HAMILTON, late of 
Craigmonaghan who departed this life the 20th day of October 
1814 aged 70 years. (Flat stone).

McASKIE died 23rd August 1890 aged 80 years.

McFARLAND

In loving memory of William McFARLAND J.P., born 9th January 
1819 died 26th November 1896 also his beloved wife Ann Jane 
born 1837 died 29th April 1915 also their only daughter 
Annie Jane born 1st May 1870 died 14th April 1896. (RHS of 
above stone) George McFARLAND born 31st January 1860 died 
5th March 1915 also Rev. W. McFARLAND M.A., born 31st 
December 1867 died 26th March 1928also his dearly beloved 
wife Margaret Ann born 25th July 1886 died 3rd December 
1974.

(Stone beside one above) Erected to the memory of Rebecca 
beloved wife of Robert McFARLAND died 29th April 1898 aged 
80 years. Rebecca hath chosen that good part, which shall 
not be taken from her.Also of their second son James 
McFARLAND died 26th December 1897 aged 45 years.“in my flesh 
shall I see god”.Robert McFARLAND died 15th November 1898 
aged 86 years.“I am the resurection, and the life, he that 
believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live”.

MITCHELL

In loving memory of William MITCHELL died 3rd May 1892 aged 
73 years also his beloved wife Margaret MITCHELL died 1st 
August 1908 aged 82 years. Letitia MITCHELL died 22nd 
December 1862 aged 4 years. Robert MITCHELL B.A. died 4th 
October 1873 aged 26 years. Jane Mitchell WILSON died 16 th 
July 1878 aged 23 years. Letitia MITCHELL died 8th July 1880 
aged 14 years. Alexander HOUSTON MITCHELL died 5th December 
1887 aged 22 years. Andrew A. MITCHELl M.D.C.M died 5th 
November 1898 aged 43 years. Sarah Annie LOMAS MITCHELL died 
25th September 1908 aged 35 years. James MITCHELL Physician 
and Surgeon died 13th September 1920 aged 69 years. John 
MITCHELL died 22nd January 1921 aged 72 years. Mary wife of 
the above John Mitchell died 28th January 1936. (there are 
one or two more names on a plaque in front of this headstone 
which are unreadable)

Florence Letitia MITCHELL, Cavan died 23rd November 1912 
aged 5 years also her father Robert died 1st September 1928 
aged 73 years also his wife Margaret died 8th January 1966 
aged 93 years. (an older flat stone in front of this with 
several names which are unreadable)

NEILSON

Here lies the body of Robert NEILSON, surgeon, who departed 
this life 9th of November 1837 aged 56 years and also of 
Joseph Andrew NEILSON, M.D.,who departed this life 23rd of 
September 1843 aged 75 sons of the late Revd. Moses NEILSON, 
D.D., 56 years minister of Kilmore parish in the County of 
Down also in memory of Andrew NEILSON late of Craigmonaghan 
who departed this life the 23rd day of January 1858 aged 78 
years. (Flat stone.)

In loving memory of John PHILLIPS who died at Castlederg 6th 
June 1888 aged 71 years.Also of his wife Mary HAMILTON who 
died 24th December 1899 aged 68 years.

ROGERS

In loving memory of Pricilla Vernon ROGERS who died 25th 
July 1879 also of her sister Catherine Frances WOODS who 
died 4th January 1883 also of Francis Purcell WOODS, son of 
the above Catherine Frances Woods who died 15th June 1904 
aged 55 years.

SEMPLE

In loving memory of William SEMPLE of Glenglush, who died 
12th November 1905 aged 87 years also his wife Elizabeth 
PORTER died 13th January 1913 aged 90.

SPROULE

Erected by W.J. SPROULE in memory of Lovia SPROULE who died 
July 14th 1879 aged 17 years also Mary SPROULE who died 
August 8th 1880 aged 10 years also his wife Jane SPROULE who 
died 23rd April 1898 aged 66 years. W. James SPROULE, 
Kilcleen who died 4th July 1917 aged 98 years. Annie Mary 
SPROULE who died 1911. (rest buried in ground).

THOMPSON
