To the memory of ALEXANDER MCDONNELL, FRCS, of Balinlig of
the Glens of Antrim, a hall of ancient and noble lineage. A
pious Catholic and accomplished physician whose whole life
was dedicated to the poor. This monument was here erected
by a large number of friends who admired his rare virtues
and lament his early loss.  He departed this life on the
24th day of November 1869. Requiescat in pace" On the side
is another inscription: "Here lieth the remains of Mary,
the sister of ALEXANDER MCDONNELL, who died 19th February
1900.  Aged 82 years."
