KIRK, HENRY AUGUST 17, 1878

Elgin Daily News - Monday 19 August 1878,

(Elgin) Died:

At his home in this city, on Saturday night at half- past
eleven o'clock, HENRY KIRK, aged 63 years, four months and
two days. He had been for a long time troubled with diseased
liver and kidneys, which became chronic and terminated in
dropsy. Mr. Kirk was born in Rochestown, Dublin, Ireland,
April 15th, 1815. He came to New York in 1850, and west in
1851, settling at Hampshire. In January, 1874, he removed
with his family to this city, and had since lived here.

For two years he had been out of health, and during the last
two months had been confined to his bed. He leaves a wife
and six children (the eldest of the latter being but
fourteen or fifteen years of age), who will miss him as a
husband and father whose only law was love; and whose many
good qualities made him friends that will long hold him in
remembrance.

The funeral will be held at 10 o'clock Tuesday forenoon, at
the residence No. 17 Villa street. The Episcopal service
will be read, possibly by Rev. Peter Arvedson, of Algonquin.
The remains will be interred at Hampshire.
