In the name of God, Amen, This sixteenth day of May in the
year of our Lord, One thousand Eight hundred and seventy,
1870. I John Brogan, of Mountcharles, in the parish of
Inver, County of Donegal, being weak of body but of perfect
mind and memory, thanks be given unto God. Therefore calling
unto mind the mortstity of my body knowing that it is
appointed (unto?) all men once to die, do make and ordain
this my last Will and testament that is to say, principally
and first of all, I give and recommend my soul into the
hands of Almighty God that gave it, and my body to the earth
to be buried in decent Christain burial at the discretion of
my executors, nothing doubting but at the General
resurection I shall receive the same again by the power of
God. And as touching such worldly Estate wherewith it has
pleased God to bless me in this life, I give and dismise and
dospose of the same in the following manner.
First, I give and bequeath to my two nieces, viz: Bridget
Gillespy and Isabella Gillespy, and to their heirs the
interest of One thousand pounds in the Bank of England, to
be divided in the following manner.
Viz: two thirds to Bridget and one third to Isabella, the
original sum of One thousand pounds never to be sold or
morgased, but to remain in the family and go down to
posterity; And should any one or either of them die without
isue the other will posses the whole. I also bequeath to the
above named Bridget Gillespy my house and lands in the
townland of Mountcharles, parish of Inver, County Donegal
(turn over). I also give and bequeath to my sister Isabella
Mulreany, living in the townland of Dromore, the interest of
four shares of One thousand pounds each share in the
Provincial Bank of Ireland, Ballyshannon with the exception
that the said Isabella Mulreany is to give my sister Widow
Mary M Kay, the sum of Six pounds Sterg. year and yearly by
installments according as it is paid from the bank during
her natural life after which it will be all her own and her
heirs, the said sum of four shares of One hundred pounds
each share never to be sold or morgased but to go down to
posterity. I also give and bequeath to my nephew Michael
Brogan the sum of One shilling. And I hereby institute and
appoint Thomas John Stubbs, Esq., Manager of the Provincial
Bank, Ballyshannon and his successors whoever he may be from
time to time, and the Rev. Dean Feely, Parish Priest of
Inver, and his succesors whoever they may be from time to
time to be joined Executors of this my last Will and
Testament, hereby utterly disallowing and disanwilling all
and every will by me made, ratifying and confirming this and
no other to be my last Will and Testament in witness where
of I have here unto set my hand and seal.

The Will of John Brogan late of Mountcharles County Donegal
Farmer deceased who died 9 November 1873 at same place was
proved at Londonderry by the oath of Reverend John Feely of
Frasses (Mountcharles) in said County R.C. Dean and P.P of
Inver one of the Executors. (Deceased died domiciled in
Ireland)
