DESTITUTION IN GWEEDORE AND CLOUGHANEELY - 1858

MAGHERACLOGHER.

71. MULLIGAN, Jack. 3 bedsteads and beds in ticks, good bed
clothes, dresser, chairs and table, boxes, woollen wheel, 2
sacks of oatmeal, horse and cart, 8 head of cattle,. I
found a new chaff bed, large quantity of wearing apparel
concealed in a loft, and covered with straw.
Got relief.


72. GALAGHER, Dolly. 2 bedsteads, beds and bedclothes,
dresser, chair, table, 3 cows, some sheep.


73. M'LEAN, William, shoemaker. A clean house, bedstead,
curtains, a feather bed, and good bedclothes, dresser,
chairs and table.


74. PEEBLES, Sally. House shut up. I am told she has
feather beds and one cow.


75. GALAGHER, Susan. Small house, 1 bed, 1 bedstead, a
dresser, 2 chairs, a chest.


76. PEEBLES, Connor. A good house, three rooms and a
kitchen, 2 bedsteads, beds and bedclothes, dresser, chairs,
table, a quantity of blankets and bed clothes hidden out of
the house, 3 cows and a horse.


77. SWEENY, James. 2 bedsteads and beds, 1 cow.


78. SWEENY, Anthony. 1 bedstead and bed, table, chest,
churn, chairs, 4 cows, and 1 horse.


79. M'BRIDE, Owen. 2 bedsteads, beds and bed clothes,
dresser, chairs and chest, 2 cows, 1 horse, quantity of
potatoes.


80. O'DONNEll, Pat. 2 bedsteads, beds and bedclothes,
dresser, chairs, table, boxes, quantity of potatoes, 3
cattle, 9 sheep.


81. DOHERTY, Daniel. 2 bedsteads, beds and bedclothes,
dresser, chairs, churn, some potatoes and meal, 3 cattle,
30 sheep.


82. ROURLY, James. 2 bedsteads, beds and bedclothes,
dresser, chest, chairs, bag of oats, bag of wool, potatoes
and meal, 3 cows, lot of sheep, 1 horse.


83. BOYLE, Paddy. 1 bedstead, bed and bedclothes, 2 large
chests, some clothes, some potatoes, 1 cow, 1 horse, a boat
and 6 sheep.


84. M'GUE, Biddy. 1 bedstead, bed and bedclothes, not good,
donkey, some potatoes.


85. GALAGHER, Roger. 3 bedsteads, beds and bed clothes, not
good. a woollen mill, a dresser, 2 chairs, 3 head of
cattle, a donkey and some sheep. a dirty house.


86. DOHERTY, Neal. 2 bedsteads, bed and bed clothes. a
table, chest, and a chair. no cattle, Poor.


87. GALAGHER, Jack. 1 bedstead, 1 bed, bed clothes, 2
chests, a dresser, 3 chairs, 2 cows.


88. DOOGAN, Cormick. House shut. I am told this man rich.
Sells provisions on time, has a horse and cart, 6 cows.


89. BOYLE, Tigue. 2 bedsteads, beds and bed clothes,
dresser, chairs, some potatoes, 1 cow.


90. BOURNES, Jack. (Weaver). 1 bedstead, bed and bed
clothes, 2chairs, 1 woollen wheel, a loom,

appears to be poor.


91. MULLIGAN, Thomas. House shut, I am told he is a rich
man, worth 300/., has a good horse, 3 cows, sells
provisions on time.


92. GALAGHER, John or Thomas. 2 bedsteads and beds,
dresser, chairs, chest, some potatoes, got a cwt of relief
meal, 5 cows. Sells meal on credit.


93. M'BRIDE, Daniel. 3 bedsteads, and 3 beds, dresser,
chair, some meal in a sack, 1 horse and cart, 1 cow.


94. MULLIGAN, Shane. a poor dirty house. bedstead and bed,
1 cow.


95. O'DONNELL, Hugh. 1 bedstead, bed and bed clothes,
chest, 3 chairs, dresser, 2 horses, 3 cows, sells potatoes
which he delivers at night, says he would be afraid to
deliver them during day.


96. GALAGHER, John. 1 bedstead and bed. Poor.


97. SWEENY, Margaret. 2 bedsteads, dresser, chair, chests,
1 cow and calf.


98. GALAGHER, John. 2 bedsteads, ticken beds, bedclothes,
dresser, 4 chairs, chests, some potatoes, 3 cows and a
horse.


99. DOHERTY, John. 2 bedsteads and beds. table, chairs,
dresser, large quantity of potatoes, 1 horse, cart, and 3
cows.


100. O'DONNELL, Frank. 2 bedsteads, beds, dresser, table,
chairs, large quantity of potatoes, 3 head of cattle.


101. SWEENY, Ned. House locked, am told he has 2 head of
cattle.


102. GALAGHER, Nogher. 1 bedstead, bed and bed clothes, a
sack of barley and some potatoes.


103. COLL, Daniel. No bed, evidently put out of the way,
has 20/., in cash, 3 cows, sells potatoes, . His wife told
me that they had no bed.


104. M'BRIDE, Unity, (Widow). No one in the house, a
bedstead, bed and bedclothes, dresser, 2 cows, sells milk.
A very dirty house.


105. FREEL, Charles. House locked up, 1 horse, 2 cows, 12
sheep, sells potatoes.


106. DOOGAN, Widow, Poor.


107. BOURNS, Hugh. (Weaver). A poor and bad house.


108. M'CONNOR, Frank. A poor house. Says he pay no rent. 1
bedstead and bed.


109. DOOGAN, Anne. A small and bad house, seems to be poor,
I am told she pays no rent.


110. M'BRIDE, Charley. A good house, no person in, seemed
well furnished with beds, etc. 2 cows, horse and cart.


111. M'BRIDE, Hugh. House shut, he has I am told enough of
provisions, 2 beds, 2 cows, 9 sheep.


112. CARROLL, Andy. A bad and dirty house, 1 cow and a
donkey.


113. GALAGHER, Hugh. House shut, he has I am told enough of
provisions, 2 beds, 2 cows, 9 sheep.


114. M'GARVY, Owen. A bad house and poor man. Got relief.


115. M'COOL, Bryan. 1 bedstead, bed and bedclothes,
dresser, chest, large quantity of potatoes, 3 cows in his
room, 1 cow out, and a horse.


116 DOOGAN, Widow Hugh. 2 bedsteads and bed, a woollen
wheel, table and chairs, good quantity of potatoes, 1 horse
and two cows.


117. GALAGHER, Owen. 1 bed, 1 chest, 1 cow tied in, a bad
house, he has been selling potatoes.


118. BOONER, Widow Mary, A poor and bad house, has a few
sheep. She is, I am told poor.


119. GALAGHER, Margaret. A poor house, no one in.


120. M'COOL, Sophie. A very bad house, and appears very
poor.


121. BOYLE, Fanny. Widow. A bad house and appears poor, no
cattle.


122. GALAGHER, James, Jnr. Lives in a bad house, had a cow
tied in the end of it, says he has got a new cut, and will
build a house on it.


123. GALLAGHER, James. Snr. Father to James Jnr, a bad
house, 1 heifer, and 2 goats, seems poor.


124. O'DONNELL, John. 2 bedsteads, beds and bed clothes,
dresser, table, chairs, chest, 2 cows, 10 sheep.


125. COLL, William. 1 bedstead and bed, dresser, table,
chest and chairs, heap of potatoes, 1 horse and 3 cows.


126. GALLAGHER, Ellen, Widow. A poor and bad house. Got
relief.


127. M'COLL, James. 3 bedsteads, beds and bedclothes,
dresser, boxes, good heap of potatoes, 3 cows, horse and
some sheep. Sells meal and potatoes on credit.


128. FEENY, John. Small house, 1 bed, dresser, and chests,
1 cow.


129. DOHERTY, Charlie. A poor looking house, 3 cows, I am
told he is not in want.


130. M'BRIDE, Biddy. (Blind Woman). A poor house, a
bedstead, and bed, dresser. Got relief.

131. M'BRIDE, Michael. A poor house, 1 bed, 1 dresser, 1
cow, 2 calves.

132. FEENY, Hugh. Keeps a shop, 2 bedsteads, chaff beds,
bed clothes, dresser, chairs, woollen wheel, 4 cows, a
horse and cart.


133. SWEENY, Hugh. (Tailor). 2 bedsteads, chaff beds and
bedclothes, dresser, 3 chairs, 1 box, 1 woollen wheel, 1
cow.


134. FREEL, Maurice. 1 bedstead and straw bed, dresser,
some potatoes, 1 cow.


135. SWEENY, Ned. 2 bedsteads, 1 chaff bed and 1 straw bed,
dresser, chest and 3 chairs. 1 cow.


136. M'GUE, Michael. (Blacksmith). 1 bedstead, chaff bed,
bedclothes, some potatoes, 2 cows.


137. M'GARVEY, Dominick. 3 bedsteads and beds, 1 chaff, 2
straw, dresser, table, chairs, 1 horse, 4 cows, a barn
locked up which they refused to open.


138. M'FADDEN, Shane, 2 bedsteads with straw in them,
appearing as if the beds and clothes had been taken away, 2
children in the house, I am told he has three cows and a
horse.


139. GALAGHER, Maggy, Widow. Bedsteads and beds, a dresser
press, 2 sacks of meal, some potatoes, 4 cows and a horse.


140. CONAGHEN, Jemmy. 2 bedsteads and straw beds, dresser,
chairs, a quantity of wearing apparel concealed in the end
of the house under straw, 2 cows.


141. M'GINTY, James. 3 bedsteads, chaff beds, and good
bedclothes in each, dresser, chairs, chest, large quantity
of potatoes and oats in sacks, 4 sacks of oats in barn, 10
head of cattle, and some horses.


142. M'GINLY, Shela, Widow. 2 bedsteads and beds, 1 chaff,
1 straw, bedclothes, dresser, chairs, chest, sack of meal,
and a sack of oats, 5 cows.


143. COYLE, William. 2 bedsteads, chaff beds, and bedding,
dresser, chairs, 4 sacks of meal, chest of barley, quantity
of potatoes, 4 cows, 1 horse.


144. M'HUGH, Charles. 3 bedsteads, chaff beds, bedclothes,
4 large sacks of oats, dresser,chairss, stand full of
oats,large quantity of potatoes, 4 cows and a horse.
