CARNDONAGH CHURCHYARD
[From the late Dr. R.S. YOUNG, Culdaff House, 1898]

Died on the 11th of Feb 1791 Captain Robert CAREY of the
Royal Marines aged 50 years He was generous and humane a
distinguished soldier and an honest man.

Here lyeth the body of Owen DOHERTY who departed
this life March the 17th 1754 aged 62

This stone was erected by Edward CARROLL Police Constable;
in memory of his wife Margaret CARROLL who departed this
life the 5th of August 1824 aged 27 years.

Here lies the body of John Hatton ROGERS Esqre late
Sub-Inspector of Constabulary Police who died the
28th of May 1839 aged 47 year This Monument was
erected to his Memory by Lewis ANDERSON Esqre County
Inspector and the Sub-Inspectors, Head, and other
Constables of the County Donegal Establishment 1843.

To the Memory of James BAIRD Sergt in the Constabulary
Police who died on the 15th day of March 1844 aged
72 years Also his wife Elizabeth BAIRD who died on
the 16th of Septr 1828 aged 50 years Also Joseph
MILLER son of Robt MILLER Sergt in the Constabulary
who died in 1840, 7 months Also the remains of Robert
MILLER Sergt in the Constabulary Police who departed
this life on 14th Jany 1832 aged 58 years.

Sacred to the Memory of Josiah MARSHALL son of the Revd
George MARSHALL Rector of this Parish who died on the 15th
day of March 1814 in the 11th year of his age Also to the
Memory of his sisters Eleanor & Elizabeth MARSHALL of who
the former died on the 4th day of Feby 1815 aged 3 years.
The latter on the 7th aged 7 months.

In Memory of Margaret wife of George Smyth BALLYLOSKY
who died Janry 1839 aged 70 years Erected by her
children in Philadelphia.

In Memory of the Revd George MARSHALL for 43 years
Rector of this Parish He died on the 10th of October
1851 beloved by his family parishioners and friends
aged 84 "To live is Christ, and to died is gain" Also
of Elizabeth Sophia his wife who died on the 29th
August 1824 aged 52.

To the Memory of Captain James MARSHALL 61st Regiment Bengal
Native Infantry sixth son of the Revd George MARSHALL Rector
of this Parish who was mortally wounded while leading a
party to clear the heights above Jugdulluk, during the
retreat of the British Army from Kabul. January 1842 aged 35
years.
