In the Name of God Amen the 24th day of October 1822 I John 
Ryan of Mallow in the County of Cork Ireland but now of 
Fortean Labrador being of sound body and perfect mind and 
memory thanks be given to God knowing that it is appointed 
for all Men once to die do make and ordain this my last Will 
and Testament that is to say principally and first of all I 
give and recommend my Soul into the hands of Almighty who 
gave it and my body I recommend to the Earth to be buried in 
decent Christian burial at the discretion of my Executor 
nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I shall 
receive the same again and as touching such Worldly Estate 
wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this life I 
give demise and dispose thereof in the following manner and 
form first I give and bequeath to my well beloved Nephew 
John Leahey of Liscorrel in the County of Cork Ireland but 
now at Bradore on the Coast of Labrador the Sum of fifty 
pounds of lawful money of Great Britain to be raised and 
taken from my Effects and to be paid to him by my Executor 
hereinafter mentioned and should I die in this Country I 
give and bequeath all my Goods Chattels and Effects which I 
possess in this Country to the said John Leahey I give and 
bequeath to my well beloved Brother William Ryan of Mallow 
in the County of Cork Ireland or to his heirs or Executors 
the remainder of all my personal Property Goods Chattels and 
Effects of what kindsoever including the Sum of Eight 
hundred pounds vested in my name in the three per cent 
Consols also of the Three hundred and ten pounds in the 
hands of Joseph Bird the Elder of Sturminster Newton in the 
County of Dorset England after the above Legacy has been 
paid and I do hereby nominate and appoint my well beloved 
friend Joseph Bird the Elder of Sturminster Newton in the 
County of Dorset England to be my sole Executor of this my 
last Will and Testament and I do disallow and revoke all and 
every other Wills Testaments Legacies and bequests and 
Executors heretofore made by me ratifying and confirming 
this and no other to be my last Will and Testament In 
Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 
24th day of October in the year of our Lord 1822 John Ryan
