QUIN FRIARY 2009

Source: Jim McNamara

Sioda Cam MacConmara built the castle and friary there in
1402 AD to give the Franciscans protection. Sioda's son was
rescued from drowning in a river by a Franciscan monk, so
that was the reason recorded for the building of this castle
by a McNamara. He also built a small castle on a hill
overlooking the townland Laccaroe Lower and it still stood
there in late 1700s but no sign of it remains since 1800s.
