The inhabitants of Carrickfergus are not subject to any peculiar disease, though bilious and nervous disorders are thought to be more prevalent than formerly. Many people live to an advanced age, as can be seen by the following list. Carnaghan, Jane, died 1715, aged 106, when near a hundred years of age she got a new set of teeth. Morrison, John, died 1732, aged 94. Logan, John, died 1742, aged 100, he had been in Derry during the siege by the army of James 11. Fitzpatrick, Margaret, died 1753, aged 100.
