JANUARY 1, 1864

Source: Private Collection.

Photo can be seen at:
https://www.igp-web.com/IGPArchives/ire/antrim/photos/documents/constabl657gph.jpg

Inscription on the watch reads:

"Presented to Sub Constable William Kearney by the gentlemen
and merchants of Ballymena as a mark of their esteem on his
leaving the town. January 1st 1864"

The record shows that Constable Kearney joined The
Constabulary in 1845. He served in Kerry, Antrim, Down,
Belfast Cork and finally in Limerick in 1878.

Additional Comments:
I would be happy to receive any further information about
Constable Kearney's life. I have only the bare facts of his
service postings, the dates of two marriages and the birth
of three children.
