OBITUARIES - CAMPBELL, JOHN FEBRUARY 15, 1890

Listowel Banner (Ontario, Canada) February 21, 1890

Mr. John Campbell who died on Saturday night after a period
of very severe suffering, was well known in town and at
Molesworth and Trowbridge, where he formerly resided. He was
born in County Antrim, Ireland in 1809. In April 1837
at Belfast he joined the 48th Regiment Infantry and served
for five years. He came out to Canada 41 years ago. He was
first married in 1834 to Eliza Elliott, who died in 1840,
leaving five children, four of whom survive. His second wife
Margaret McCallum and four of her children survive him. He
was a man held in high respect by his fellow citizens.

Additional Comments:
He had a brother George who immigrated to the United States
and a brother Richard who stayed in Ireland. Richard's son
was Crawford Campbell. Somewhere down the blood lines, we
have family ties to Robert Lynn, who was an MP for Northern
Ireland

This was my Great Great Grandfather, he was born in County
Antrim about 1809
