Kells creamery raided.

In the early hours of Sunday morning the creamery at Kells was broken into and much damage caused to the belting, machinery etc.

The safe, which could not be opened, was removed. It is stated that a considerable sum of money deposited in the creamery by a young man named Barry was missing.

On the following day Mr. Barry cycled to Woodstock, Inistioge, to lodge a complaint against the "Black and Tans" stationed there with reference to the disappearance of his money. A drumhead courtmartial was held on him for making such a serious charge against the forces of the Crown, as a result of same he was given a few minutes to clear out, and warned not to show up there again.

The "Black and Tans" get busy.

Every morning during the week Kilkenny has been visited by a party of "Black and Tans" whose mission appears to be the commandeering of food supplies, etc. Some of them are to be seen sauntering about the streets with rifles while the rest of the party are loading the motor vehicle with foodstuffs from various shops. It has been stated that wherever they have been refused liquor - in consequence of the boycott on the R.I.C., which is still in force - they supply themselves.

A Warning!

Some  traders in Carlow have ceased to comply with the order of the Irish Volunteers to boycott the members of the R.I.C. A warning has been issued to traders to comply with this directive or face the consequences. " Any person having dealings with members of the Royal Irish Constabulary or their families, speaking or reporting to them or selling them goods shall be dealt with immediately".

By Order of Commanding Officer, Irish Volunteers, Carlow.
