Return of inquests by Thomas T. Abbott 1857-1858.

July 15th 1857 on Mary McErny, at Nenagh Gaol. Dr. Frith. Verdict-a lunatic, died in Nenagh Gaol from epilepsy. Reported by the Constabulary.

July 18th on Catherine Kennedy, at Merton, Lower Ormond. Dr. McGarvey. Verdict-Found dead in her bed, we believe by apoplexy. Reported by the Constabulary.

Aug. 4th. on Bridget Hayes at Nenagh, Lower Ormond. Dr. Cahalan. A lunatic, died in Nenagh Goal from natural causes. Reported by the constabulary.

Aug. 8th. on Margaret Carey, at Newtown, Barony of Owney and Arra, Dr. Quinn. Verdict-Died from a solution of hemlock which was found in her stomach, Reported by the constabulary.
Aug. 12th. on Joseph Falkiner, at Rodeen, Barony of Lower Ormond. Dr. McGarvey. Verdict-Killed by a cow, his own property.Reported by the constabulary.

Aug. 17th, on William Carroll, at Boherleigh, Lower Ormond, Dr. McGarvey. Verdict-Died form injuries received by his clothes having caught fire. Reported by the constabulary.

Aug. 19th. on Edward Gleeson, at Garryard, Upper Ormond. Dr. McKeogh. Verdict-Killed by having accidentally fallen down a shaft at mine works. Reported by the constabulary.

Aug. 29th. on Bridget Kennedy, at Touher, Upper Ormond. Dr. McKeogh. Found dead in her bed, supposed from natural causes. Reported by the constabulary.

Sept. 29th. on David Hayes at Nenagh, Lower ormond. Dr. Frith.Verdict-Died in Nenagh Gaol from congestion of the brain. Reported by the constabulary.

Oct. 29th on Patrick Kennedy, at Riverstown, Lower Ormond. Dr. A.W.Wallace. Verdict-Killed by the accidental upsetting of a cart. Reported by the constabulary.

Nov. 2nd. on Eliza Lee, at Nenagh Gaol, Lower Ormond, Dr. Frith. Verdict-Died at Nenagh Gaol from epileptic convulsions. Reported by the constabulary.

Nov. 7th on Maria Mooney, at Borrisokane, Lower Ormond.. Dr. McGarvey, Verdict-Found killed on the road at Ballinderry from the upset of a cart. Reported by the constabulary.

Nov. 9th. on John Hart in Borrisokane, Lower Ormond, Dr. McGarvey. Verdict-Killed by a blow accidentally given playing cricket. Reported by the constabulary.

Dec. 14th, on M. McKeogh, at Gurrawn, Lower ormond. Dr. Carey. Verdict-Died from natural causes. Reported by the constabulary.

Dec. 15th on Pat Phelan, at Nenagh, Lower Ormond. Dr. McKeogh. Verdict-Died from disease of the chest, accelerated by a fracture of the skull.Reported by the constabulary.

Dec. 18th and 21st. on Michael Kelly at Nenagh, Lower Ormond. Dr. Kittson. Verdict-Died from a fracture of the skull received while hurling. Reported by the constabulary.

Dec. 29th on Patrick Grace, at Ballycommon, Lower Ormond. Dr. Frith. Verdict-Found dead at Violet Bank from heart disease. Reported by the constabulary.

Jan 2nd. 1858. on Denis Kelly, at Dromineer, Lower Ormond. Dr. Frith. Verdict-Died suddenly at Dromineer from natural causes. Reported by the constabulary.

Jan 14th. 1858 on John Brien, at Nenagh, Lower Ormond, Dr. Frith. Verdict-Died suddenly by the rupture of a blood vessel. Reported by the constabulary.

Jan. 17th. on Wm. Cordue, at Borrisokane, Lower Ormond. Dr. McGarvey. Verdict-Died from natural causes. Reported by the constabulary.

Jan. 23rd. on Constable Hart, at Cloughjordan, Barony of Lower Ormond. Dr. Frith. Verdict-Died suddenly at the police station from natural causes. Reported by the constabulary.

Jan 26th. on Ann Flood, Ballyna, Owney and Arra, Dr. Roe.
Verdict-Died from natural causes. Reported by the constabulary.

Feb 5th. on W.R. McDonnell, at Slavior, Lower Ormond. Dr. McGarvey. Verdict-Accidentally drowned by the upsetting of a cot. Reported by the constabulary.

Feb. 15th. on James Kelly, at Lisserane, Lower Ormond. Dr. McGarvey. Verdict-Died from injuries by his clothes having caught fire. Reported by the constabulary.

1. Aug 15th, 1857 on William Conner at Bakestown, Holycross, Eliogarty; Dr. Russell. Verdict-Coming in contact with a mill. Reported by Constable Flynn.

2. Aug. 17th on a child unknown, at Loughmore, Eliogarty; Dr. Mullally. Verdict.Exposure to cold. Reported by Sub-Inspector Nowlan.

3. Aug. 19th on Darby Connors, at Foilaclug, Holyfort, North Kilnemanagh; Dr. Power.  Verdict-Disease of the heart. Reported by Constable Bourke.

4. August 21st. on Richard Stapleton, at Boulick, Parish of Fennor, Slievardagh;Dr. Green. Verdict-Manslaughter. Reported by Constable Sullivan.

5.Sept 5th. on John Brien, at Drumtrasna, Parish of Ileigh; Dr. Quinlan. Verdict-Manslaughter. Reported by Sub-Inspector Malone.

6. Sept. 26th on Patt Walsh, at Thurles, Eliogarty; Dr. Bradshaw. Verdict-Inflammation of the liver. Reported by Head Constable Barry

7. Oct 13th. on William Maher, Killea, Ikerrin; Dr. Powel. Verdict-Manslaughter. Reported by Sub-Inspector Morgan.

8.Oct. 23rd. on John Ellis at Kilrush, Parish of Thurles. Dr. Bradshaw. Verdict-Wilful murder. (This is the land agent for Trant for whose murder the Cormack brothers were hung in  Nenagh for.Mary)

9 Oct 31st. on Edmund Fogarty at Kilkip, Killea, Ikerrin; Dr. Mullally. Verdict-Disease of the heart. Reported by Sub-Inspector Nowlan.

10 November 21st. on John Jones, at Whitford, Holycross;Dr. Bradshaw. Verdict-Suicide. Reported by Head Constable Barry.

11. Nov. 28th. on Michael Gleeson, Fishmoyne, Parish of Drom. Dr.Pinchin. Verdict-Manslaughter. Reported by Sub-Inspector Malone.

15. Jan 13th. on Michael Healy, at the Commons, Kilcooly, Slievardagh. Dr Rowles. Verdict-Suffocation. Reported by Constable Wiggins.

16. Jan 17th on Margaret Dillon, at Kilmore, Parish of Ballingarry, Slievardagh;Dr. Rowles. Verdict-Found drowned.

17. Jan 31st. William Shanahan, at Rusheenbeg, Parish of Ileigh, North Kilnemnagh; Dr. Quinlan. Verdict-Excessive drink. Reported by Sub-Inspector Malone.

18. Feb. 4th on James Purcell, at Leigh, Two-Mile-Borris, Eliogarty; Dr. Bradshaw. Verdict-Disease of the heart. Reported by Head Constable Barry.
