Old Kilcullen Graveyard

County Kildare, Ireland

Travel straight through the village of Kilcullen and after a mile and a half turn left at the second set of green bollards. The graveyard is 2 miles on this road on the left and side.



Kilcullen graveyard is on the site of a round tower, which was used as a refuge and as a storehouse for church valuables during the Norse raids in the 9th & 10th century A.D.and served also as a watchtower and Belfrey. The cemetery has been beautifully restored by the local people.
