These are RC marriages from the parish of Upper Mourne. They have been painstakingly transcribed from PRONI Microfilm MIC/1D/73 by Sheila Phillips. This was a very difficult film to transcribe so please read Sheila's annotations to explain the transcription. Note: Names and townlands are as read and may not be exactly correct.
The barony of Mourne is strictly identical with the civil parish of Kilkeel, which is divided into the ecclesiastical parishes of Upper Mourne and Lower Mourne. Upper Mourne contains 45 of the 68 townlands into which the barony is divided. The parish of Upper Mourne extends from the Causeway River, or Aghyoghill River, the the north-eastern confines of the townlands of Carrigneagh, Aughnahoory, and Kilkeel, where it adjoins Lower Mourne. Sheila and I may have more information about these families. If you find someone you are researching, please post a message to the County Down Genealogy Group at: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/CountyDownGenealogy/
