These beautiful photographs were kindly donated by Sid Quinn. Most of the photos were taken by Sid at the Frontier Culture Museum in Staunton, Virginia at the German farm but one loom was from the Irish farm in Killyleagh. The hackle that is not part of this museum was brought to Alamance in what is now Guilford County, North Carolina, USA. The descendants of Hans Weaver were given the hackle sometime in the 1930s or 40s. Hans Weaver was born in Ballytrim, Killyleagh in 1776 to Robert Weaver and Susan Stewart whose brother Finley Stewart settled in Alamance, NC. She herself came to Guernsey County, Ohio with her son Hans and his family and her two unmarried daughters in 1820 and died there in 1830 being aware of where her brother was but without having the opportunity to visit, the trip being around 600 miles at a time when there were few roads. Hans Weaver grew linen in Killyleagh and is on the list of linen growers.
