 General Register Office (GRO)

Responsible for the administration of marriage law and the provision of a system for the civil registration of births, deaths, marriages and adoptions in Northern Ireland.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Public Record Office of Northern Ireland (PRONI)

Official deposit for public records in Northern Ireland, The records cover the period from c.1600 to the present day, with a few dating back as far as the early 13th century.  Not too many records are available on-line.

 National Archives of Ireland

Holds a wide variety of records, many of which are relevant to Irish genealogy and local history.  Not too many records are available on-line.

Linen Hall Library

A truly unique institution. Founded in 1788, it is the oldest library in Belfast and the last subscribing library in Ireland.
