| | The Flax Growers List also known as the Spinning Wheel Premium was compiled in 1796 by the Irish Linen Board. There were 60,000 individuals listed and they were given incentives for growing flax. The rewards were four spinning wheels for one acre of flax grown, 3 spinning wheels for three quarters of an acre, two spinning wheels for a half acre, one spinning wheel for a quarter acre. Those growing five acres got a loom or spinning wheels up to the value of five shillings. Coming soon. |
