No.3 Notice re History of Church at Delgany. Reads: - DELGANY CHURCH The ancient Church of Delgany was dedicated to | Saint Chuarog, who was of Royal Welsh descent and | who apparently gave the last rites to Saint Kevin of | Glendalough when he died in A.D. 618. There are no | obvious vestiges of a Church from that time. Amongst the many interesting 18th and 19th century | headstones are the foundations of a later church | that survives in the graveyard. This was most likely | built in the 13th century. Also in the graveyard near the entrance is a large granite font. Perhaps the | most important feature in the graveyard is the shaft | of a monumental high cross. Unfortunately the head | is missing but the surviving granite shaft preserves | the following inscription; OR DO...CUS DO ODRAN SAIR "a prayer for... and for Odran the wright". The | inscription asks for a prayer for two people - the first | name is illegible but the second name is Odran the | wright, who may have commissioned the erection of | the cross or the building of a church at this site. No.4 Ruin of the Old Delgany Church as mentioned in No.3, and which was most likely built in 13th century.
