Norwich Bulletin (Norwich, Connecticut) September 19, 1911  
John D. Downes was born in County Limerick about seventy years ago, son of 
Connor and Mary Downes. He came to this country fifty years ago. He was 
married to Johanna Costello at St. Mary's Church September 10, 1864. He worked 
many years at the Chelsea Paper Co. and at many other places thereafter. He 
had not been employed during the past three years. He was a trustee of St. 
Mary's for 14 years.  

Additional Comments:
From other sources I believe he was born in Ballingarry. His wife's parents 
lived in Bruree and other relatives also lived in these two parishes.
