Brooklyn Daily Eagle, NY, November 1902
John McGarvey died Tuesday at 25 Fillmore place.
Mr. McGarvey, who was born in the county Donegal,
Ireland, sixty-five years ago, had been a resident of
 the Fourteenth ward over thirty years. He had been
for over a quarter of a century in business at North
Second and Driggs streets and was very popular with
the old volunteer fire laddies especially. A few years
since he retired from business and lived in the house
in which he died. He leaves a widow and two sons,
Leo and Joseph, and two daughters, Eliza and Mary.
