February and March 1820

Thomas Nowlan of the Town of Ballon, in the County of Carlow, Farmer, maketh Oath that he has planted in the month of February and March 1820, on the Lands of Ballon, which Lands are in my possession and are the Estate of Mr Francis Marshall, the following Trees viz: 360 Larch, 500 Scotch Fir, 200 Beech, 65 Apple, 44 Ash, 77 Elm.

To Charles Doyne Esq. Agent to the Right Hon. William Carr Lord Beresford.

Sir, Take Notice that I have Planted or caused to be Planted within Eleven Calender Months last past on the Lands of Ballynockan in the Parish of Fenagh County of Carlow ~ Held by me as assignee of John Brady from David Latouche and being now the property of the Right Honourable William Carr Lord Beresford ~the following Trees ~TOWIT ~ one Thousand one Hundred  Larch, One Thousand Scotch Fir, one Thousand Spruce Fir, one Thousand Beech, and Five Hundred and Fifty Ash Trees All which said Trees it is my Intention to Register pursuant to the several Acts of Parliament at present in force for that purpose ~~ Dated this 21st day of February 1823 ~

Take Notice I have planted on Lands at Rathlion in the Parish of Tankardstown, Barony of Rathvilly, 350 Ash. on Land I hold from J. D. Ducket, William Duckett and Joseph Duckett Esq.  7th October, 1823. To P. Woods Esq. Agent.

James Nowlan of Tenniclash, Farmer, maketh Oath that he has planted on the lands of Garryline in the Parish of Gilbertstown held by me from head landlord William Browne Esq. and also from John James Lecky, Esq. of Ballykealy the person from whom he immediately holds the lands, the following Trees Viz.

Three hundred Beech, Two hundred Sycamore,

I John Nowlan do Swear that I have planted or caused to be planted on the Lands of Wells Parish, Barony of Idrone West, held by me from Gilbert P. Rudkin Esq. 130 Fir Dale trees, 113 Spruce Dale , 303 Larch, 120 Elm, 380 Ash, 5 Brich, and that I have given notice to the Lord Bishop of Ferns and to Gilbert Rudkin.

I William O'Neill do Swear that I have planted or caused to be planted within Twelve Calender Months last past on the Lands of Garryhill otherwise *Clon ...e (?)  in the Parish of Dunleckney held by me from The Right Hon the Earl of Bessborough -- 500 four years old Scotch fir, Five Hundred four years old Larch, one Thousand three years old Beech, Eighty Ash about four years old, twenty Sycamore about three years old and that I have given notice to the said Landlords agent of my intention to register said Trees, Twenty days at the least previous to this day ~ Sworn before me this 16th day of January 1825

3rd June 1825

I Anthony Goss of Ballyknocken in the County of Carlow, Clerk, do Swear that I have planted or caused to be planted within the last twelve calendar months last past on the Lands of Ballknocken in the parish of Wells in said County held by me under Lease from William Richard Steward Esquire, the following trees Viz: 95 Elms, 6 Burch, 150 Ash, 312 Larch, 222 Spruce, 71 Scotch Fir, 25 Silver Fir. And that I have given notice in writing to him (who is the headlandlord or owner of said Lands ) Thirty one Day's previous to the Date hereof of said planting and of my intention to register said Trees at the next Quarter Sessions of the Peace to be held for said County. Sworn before me this 3rd Day of June 1825.

I John Nolan do Swear that I have planted on the Lands of Clogna in the Parish of Cloydagh, Barony of Carlow held by me from Henry Bruen Esq. 527 Ash, 692 Beech, 102 Spruce, 741 Larch, 658 Scotch Fir, 345 Alder, 227 Birch, 300 Mountain Ash, 50 American Black Spruce, 150 Silver Fir, 100 Platting.

John Nowlan of Leighlinbridge, Farmer do Swear that I have planted on the Lands held by me from John Payne of Killgranny the following trees Viz: 70 Apple, 8 Plum, 2 Pear, 93 Larch, 52 Spruce, I have given Notice in Writing to William Richard Stewart, Esquire, the Original Landlord.

I Adam B. Feltus do swear that I have planted on the lands of Coolnasnghta in the Parish of Fenagh, held by me from the Right Hon. the Earl of Bessborough the following trees:

Two thousand five hundred Larch,
Two thousand five hundred Scotch fir and Three thousand Oak.

 I The Rev. Samuel Roberts of Ra...id..? in Carlow have planted on that part of the Lands help under Patrick Burtchael Esquire and Wife in the parish of Wells, Barony of Idrone West in said County the following Trees 170 Apple Trees of different kinds and that I have given notice to Said Patrick Burtchael and to Mr R. Stewart Esq. the head Landlord, Sworn before me First November 1828

I Patrick Cummins of Newtown Swear that I have planted on the Lands of Newtown held by me under Col. Bruen M.P. the under named trees ~viz~ 212 Ash, 5 Elm, 49 Sycamore, 35 Populars and that I have given notice in writing to Henry Cary Esq. agent to Col. Bruen.


5th of April 1831

I Michael Nowlan do Swear this day 5th of April 1831 that I have planted 1,100 Larch, 400 Scotch Fir, 2,000 Thorn, 100 Apple. on the lands of Ballencrush in the Parish of Myshall, held by me from James John Bagot, Esq.

Sir, I hereby give you Notice that I have planted 375 Larch Deal on the Lands at Ballyaderneen which I hold from Lord Beresford I intend to register the same at the General quarter Sessions to be held at Bagenalstown, 8th May, 1832.

I Sir Francis Denys-Burton, Baronet, of Pollacton, Carlow, make oath and say, I have planted or caused to be planted, by request, and on behalf of my Wife, Lady Grace E. Denys-Burton: 300 larch trees, in the field called "The Slang" part of Kernanstown, in the Parish of Urglin, in the County of Carlow, during the month of February 1914, and I desire to have these trees registered as the property of the Trustees. The Trustees being Thomas Kane McClintock Bunbury, Baron Rathdonnell of Lisnavagh Rathvilly. Co. Carlow and William Rochfort Esq of Cahir Abbey Calin Co Tipperary.
