Note that on the statement it states "38th year of the reign" I believe it should state "37th year of the reign" as the incident took place in September 1797.*

The Following Persons Committed by Beauchamp Bagnell, Esquire, For that Michael Cosgreive, George Disney of Rathvendon and John Corgrave ? Millar, John Edwards, being evil disposed persons and Not being duly qualified on 9th September in the 38th year of the reign of our Lord Sovereign George, King etc. etc.they did at Bagnelstown Contemptuously Maliciously and Feloniously did Tender a Certain Unlawful Oath and Solemn Engagement to William Cole of the import following " To keep Secret" - thereby meaning that he should not divulge the Secrets of a Certain Seditious Society formed under the Denomination of United Irishmen they or Either of them not being Qualified to administer such Oath against the Peace.....................

(note at end of above statement) William Cole murdered.
