1819 Piece of land in Carlow

Sworn before Gilbert FitzGerald, Joseph Glinn states that he owns a piece of land in Tomduff these thirty years past and he proffered to let the piece of land to John Clare of Tomduff for the sum of Eleven shillings and four pence halfpenny yearly but this year John Clare did not agree to take the said piece of land or did he give him any title or possession whatsoever.

However in the absence of Joseph Glinn from Tomduff John Clare did felloniously Inter said land without consent or knowledge of Joseph Glinn, he has found his piece of land Tilled by John Clare and the ditch levelled and other landmarks removed, and when Joseph Glinn demanded his land from John Clare, he refused giving him his piece of land back but on the Contrary John Clare did forcibly keep possession of said piece of land and told Joseph Glinn that he would do as he pleased with the piece of land and no thanks to Joseph Glinn.

The above is a true and accurate transcript of the original document.
