Who being duly sworn on the holy Evangelists and Examined saith that on Monday the Third day of March Inst, Examt with a friend went into the house of Michael Lacey of Carlow  Publican in order to take one Naggin of Spirits, when the said Michl Lacey in a Threatning manner and taking up a Bayonet in his hand desired Examt as a rascal to be gone or he wou’d let his guts out, at the same time calld Examt a fore sworn rascal and desired him to be gone immediately out of his house and were it not for said Lacey's wife who shut the door on him, he wou'd have followed Examt into the street with said Bayonet in his hand which put Examt in very great dread and fear of his life.
