The transcribing of the stones in Linkardstown Burial Place were carried out by Ronnie Shorten in the 1960 / 80s period.

At that time her father Brendan Dowling owned the farming land surrounding the graveyard. For many years Ronnie and her father had done an annual clean-up in the cemetery. Unfortunately today the graveyard is overgrown with weeds / trees etc.

Ronnie passed her transcriptions to Bill Dillion of Bagenalstown who published them under the name Reynolds Fieldcrest.

Ronnie's great-great grandparents are recorded on Stone number 49. Mary Nowlan of Linkardstown married Patrick Dowling of Ballyloo, both the Nowlan farm and the Dowling farm were adjoining lands at the time.
