The following was sent in by David Stroud. He is a researcher and writer on the Gunmakers of Ireland and about to publish a book on this subject.

I have various pieces of information related to Tullow Street, Carlow but unfortunately no images. The earliest gunmaker I have listed for Carlow is Constant Kiernan c.1695.

The first gunmaker listed for Carlow is in Tullow Street and his name was Andrew Carter in 1788.

Others noted are: John Green c.1825/1839; Robert Cowell, 1824/1827.

Others noted in Carlow are: Robert Council & Christopher Davidson.

Mr Thomas Evans, 1846, 45 Tullow Street and Mr William Evans, 47 Tullow Street c. 1930.

Albert Morris & Company of 140 Tullow Street Carlow was advertising the following services on his premises: Ammunition and Sporting Requisites. The business was established in 1838 by James Morris. We have a bill head which is dated 1893. (see ALBERT MORRIS page).
